Description
A relic from the past, the old R.M. Wilkins Hardware store building, constructed about 1887, still stands today on East Frederick Street in Gaffney, South Carolina. In 1907 the business became Wilkins-Watson Hardware Company when Edward Watson purchased half interest from Mr. Wilkins. The business survived for many years afterward.. As lettering on the old building indicates, the firm handled buggies and wagons in addition to numerous other items. Long abandoned, the building has been slated for restoration to house a new business.
